North Kingstown has a unique opportunity to support a local business, based in North Kingstown, in a nationwide contest recognizing American made crafts. Martha Stewart and the editors of Martha Stewart Living, a respected name known worldwide when it comes to American arts, crafts, and home goods, is running a nationwide contest to “honor makers, small-business owners, and creative entrepreneurs in the fields of crafts, design, food, and style.” According to official website of this contest,www.marthastewart.com/americanmade, “American Made spotlights the maker, supports the local, and celebrates the handmade. The program is made up of people and communities that have turned their passion for quality craftsmanship and well-designed goods into a way of life.”
North Kingstown has a finalist in the crafts category, The Bow K. Owner Deanna Russo created this tool “to help others uphold this long-standing tradition in a more sophisticated manner.” In the crafts category, The Bow K is listed in the celebrations sub-category, which represents party goods, decorations, and wedding products. The idea, born out of a frustrating experience at a friend’s wedding, has become a Martha Stewart American Made finalist. Congratulations Deanna and your staff for this incredible honor. So, let us do our part and help get The Bow K the national exposure and spotlight it deserves. Here is how to vote for The Bow K:
The voting process is very simple. Log onto the official website of The Bow K, www.bowk.com. On the home page, you will see a “Vote Now” box. Click on it. You will be directed to Bow K’s “2015 Crafts Finalist” page on the Martha Stewart American Made website. Here you can read a product overview, see photos of the amazing and creative bouquets and arrangements courtesy of The Bow K, and of course, cast your vote for North Kingstown’s The Bow K. Click on the vote box (I just voted this morning) and you will be prompted to enter your email and a personal password. It took me just seconds to register. Fans of The Bow K can watch as the vote tally goes up and up. Deanna messaged me last night to let me know some of the other details on the contest.
“Voting is open now through October 19th. Folks can cast up to 6 votes daily. We (The Bow K) were trending in the top 15 just this week for new votes. Social media is going to play a critical role in the success of Bow K in the contest. I hope that you will consider voting for a local North Kingstown business. And we manufacture our product right here in Rhode Island as well. Side note, I got to meet Martha Stewart on Sunday at a recent wine and cheese festival. Here is a photo of her signing my cookbook.
